About

On Friday, June 29, Google, in partnership with the State of the Black Tech Ecosystem Summit, is hosting a Women of Color Networking Event.

In addition to networking and fellowship, we will start the event with a few stories from amazing women of color and hear how they have created a space for themselves in the tech industry.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, networking, and empowerment!

Speaker Highlights

Kira Hooks

Featured Storyteller: Co-Founder, Super Riche Kids

Kira Hooks is a Senior Account Manager at Google. In 2018, she launched @SuperRicheKids, a story telling platform designed to inspire, inform, and influence the next generation of diversity talent with co-founder, fellow Googler, and best friend Jodie Taylor. While still in it's infancy, the goal of SuperRicheKids.com is to address the fact that students and young professionals starting out in their career journey, particularly those of color, are often under informed, underpaid, and under inspired. Our mission is simple: Inspire the next generation of diverse talent. Inform them with anecdotal and professional resources. Influence them to enter into professional spaces where we have been historically underrepresented.

Tiffany Mikell

Featured Storyteller: Managing Director, ZaMLabs

Tiffany Mikell is Managing Director of ZaMLabs, an Idea to Seed Tech Incubator founded in 2014 for Mad Scientists & Social Engineers. The ZaMLabs portfolio focus area is on tech solving problems for the world's most marginalized communities and to-date includes Trans*H4CK, BlackStarLaunch (Sunset), AerialSpaces & Appolition. In 2013, Mikell was on the founding team of Dev Bootcamp -- which was acquired in less than 2 years.

The Franchiise

DJ

The Franchiise is one of the most dynamic rising stars to hit the Chicago scene. She is currently a resident DJ for Untitled, #hashtaglunchbag and #Timbuck2uesdays, the longest running hip-hop night in Chicago, started by the legendary DJ Timbuck2. The Franchiise also has DJed clubs and parties in Cabo, NYC, Atlanta, New Orleans and the Bay Area.

I want to register but there is a waitlist. What should I do?

If there is a waitlist it means that the event has reached the maximum number of people. However, as people are no longer able to attend we will let people off of the waitlist. So if you are interested in coming please add your name to the waitlist and we will contact you before the event.

Who should attend the event?

Is this event only open to people who attend State of the Black Tech Ecosystem summit?

The event is open to anyone who would like to attend! That said, given the event is part of the summit, it would be great if you have been engaged with the SBTE summit in any way.

Can I bring a friend?

Sure! Please just have anyone RSVP via the link in the upper right corner of this site.
